Sewing Room

This is the place I spend all the time I can.
Between the computer (his name is Hudson)
and my sewing machine (her name is Mabel)
My sewing area in what should be our dinning room. I can still keep an eye on the kids and be in the middle of the action. The down side is a lot of traffic and people like to put their stuff down on my sewing table.
I am working on filling that blank wall with all kinds of little quilts. It should be fun when it is finished.

Markers

This is what happens when he is left alone with markers for too long. I was finishing up my June 6" mini quilt swaps and let the little boy have the markers. He walked over to were I was to ask a question and this is the face I saw. It is really very symmetrical. He did a good job. Good thing I haven't given Baths today. I guess that is what is next on the to do list.

Needed a break.

This is what I did yesterday.
I was in need of a little swap break, so I made a bag. I don't know what I am going to do with it. I was thinking of starting an etsy shop. Maybe this could be the first listing, I don't know. I never know what to ask for things.

It has been awhile.

I have been trying to catch up on what seems like a million projects. I have 2 mini quilts in the works for the flickr 6"-12" mini quilt swap. I finished one and I need to do the binding on the other. Then its off to the Post office for me. (I hate the Post office)

I am also working on something for Katy's Russian doll swap. That is going OK. I keep changing my mind though. I might make one of each thing then pick one to send and keep the other for me. That sounds good.

I also have 2 other swaps I am doing. Thankfully they don't have to be sent out till September. So I can take my time with that.

School is out so that is also keeping me busy. It has been so hot and I haven't let them play outside. That makes for some wild kids. I think I will have them run laps around the living room.

I am also working on a baby quilt for my mom's friends first grand baby. They like bright colors and I can't say that I love things to bright. So this is what I have come up with. The yellow is killing me, but I think it is working out.

The Mystery of the Laundry Pile.

I hate folding and putting away clothes, but today I have been doing laundry, and folding laundry and maybe tomorrow I will put it away. But as I was sitting on the floor folding the 100th load, or so it felt like it, I was noticing some things that seemed a bit out of place. I have washed, dried and stacked a few bibs. I haven't had a kid in a bib for I don't know how long. But here I am stacking bibs. Then there is the sock problem. It is hot, summer time and all, my kids have not put shoes on in I don't know how long. I have washed a ton of kid socks. Hubby socks I get, but not the kid ones. It is all a big mystery.

This could have something to do with the great sock phenomenon. Sorry for the sideways picture. Ops

The Bacon Monster

I was asked what the story was behind my friend the BACON MONSTER.
So first you have to know I come from a family who doesn't take anything seriously. We make a joke out of everything. And I am telling everything, there seem to be no taboo subjects out there. So here is the bacon story.
My dad is a correctional officer and has been one for around 20 years. Not a fun job and apparently taking care of bad and a lot of times very stupid people can get to you a bit. My dad (who I call Fred, his name is Michael, that's another story) was having a particularly bad day at work, went to the kitchen to get something to eat. I am guessing bacon was on the menu, but when he got in there it was all gone. I don't know how many other people witness the actions of the bacon less man, but I would say a few. My father pick up, from what I was told was a stack of pots and pans and proceeded to not so gracefully chuck them across the room. I would imagine a long list of colorful words joined the flying pots and pans. Well his actions were reported to the proper people and he was sent home and required to go to some therapy sessions. My mother upon hearing about the bacon brake down went running to the store and picked up a lot of bacon to have in the fridge when he got home. She didn't want a repeat of the fit thrown at work. So armed with a fridge full of bacon, off he went to what we refereed to as BACON THERAPY.
Now with me living 1700 miles away from my family could not be left out of the loop so I put together the Bacon Monster.

Movie

OK,so hubby picks out a movie last night. Cloverfield. It sucked in my opinion. A friend had seen it and it was all he could talk about, so we thought *OK, we will try it* Why we sat through the entire movie, I don't know. I kept thing maybe it would get better. Nope, it was bad from beginning to end.

Sorry for the movie review.

How about a picture that doesn't relate at all.

The Best Friend Bag

This is a little bag that I made today for Maddie's best friend. Her friend is moving out of the state and Maddie wanted to do something nice for her. This is what we came up with. I don't know if they will be driving or flying but either way she will have something to do. Maddie picked out a fun notebook, a pencil set, some pens, and a box of crayons. It all fits nicely in the messenger bag.
I finished the bags that I had to do before school was out. Talk about the last minute. I was still sewing 20 minutes before school was out. They were well liked.
OK, time to sit with my hubby and watch a movie.

The Things I Do

The last day of school is in 3 days. I had a few teacher come up to me at the last minute and ask for bags. I would like to have them finished by the last day of school. One has a zipper. I have never done one before, so that was a new experience. Not as bad as I thought it would be. But I still have the bag to put together. The other is a diaper bag, or Nappy Bag if you my dear Katy. (she told me I said it wrong) It is out of one of my favorite Amy Butler prints. Then I also have 2 quilts to do for the way fun 6" quilt swap. I can't seem to stick to the 6" thing though. I hope to have everything to the right people soon.
Also I joined a Russian Doll Swap, put on by Katy over at http://imagingermonkey.blogspot.com I am thinking that a small quilt made from the Russian doll fabric I found on etsy would be way cute. Still thinking though.
Maddie would like to learn to make a quilt over the summer. I think we will start on that soon. I will maybe post pics of her progress.
